Locally made miso is the perfect complement for our local proteins and produce. It adds a rich, deep flavor to any dish.
Miso is a traditional Japanese fermented seasoning made from cooked beans, salt, and fermented barley or rice. Miso is incredibly protein rich and will increase the nutritional content and flavor of any dish.
We love to use miso to make soups, add flavor to salad dressings and sauces, or marinate vegetables or meats.
Miso from South River Farm is:

At the moment, we offer Sweet White Miso and Chickpea Miso.
Sweet White Miso
Famous to the Kyoto region of Japan for generations, Sweet White is now our most popular variety. With its sweet, gentle flavor and smooth, creamy texture, Sweet White Miso has a low salt content (4 %) and a very short fermentation time (three weeks). Sweet White is delicious in spreads, dips, sauces and salad dressings, or for seasoning light soups.
Ingredients: Deep well water, lightly polished organic brown rice, organic soybeans, sun-dried sea salt, organic sea vegetables, and koji culture.
Made with the sumptuous chickpea instead of soybeans, this variety has long been our family favorite. A staple of Middle Eastern cuisine since ancient times, the chickpea is one of the most easily digestible beans. We are always remarking about the balanced, sweet flavor this miso brings to our table.
Ingredients: Deep well water, lightly polished organic brown rice, organic chickpeas, sun-dried sea salt, organic sea vegetables, and koji culture.
