McIntosh Apples
Local, Pesticide-Free

$2.59

1 - 1.25 Lbs

First batch of this year's McIntosh Apples

These are Local, Pesticide-Free McIntosh Apples.

The McIntosh, McIntosh Red, or colloquially the Mac, is an apple cultivar, the national apple of Canada. The fruit has red and green skin, a tart flavour, and tender white flesh, which ripens in late September. McIntosh apples are good apples for baking, juicing, and eating. Because they are so juicy, McIntosh apples are an excellent choice to use for apple juice and sweet cider. The apple is tart enough to hold its own in a sweet dessert. The soft flesh of the apple makes it a perfect choice for applesauce or apple pie.

1 lb per order

Grown using Integrative Pest Management practices from Klein Kill Farm in Germantown, NY.

Storage Tips: Store on the counter. Move any uneaten apples to the refrigerator after seven days. Whether keeping inside of the the fridge or out, don't store near most other uncovered fruits or vegetables-- the ethylene gases produced by apples can ruin them (making carrots bitter, for example). The exception: if you want to ripen plums, pears and other fruits quickly, put an apple nearby for a day or so.
